When you get to the stage where you feel life has brought you to your knees and you don’t think you can ever get up again and move forward, the good news is that you can decide to change – your life, your attitude and your situation.
That’s right…it can be that easy. Your attitude, your beliefs and the thoughts you have, dictate what happens to you in your life in terms of your emotional state and the results you get.
When we are very young, before the age of seven, we absorb all the mindsets and beliefs of our parents and carers. We are like little sponges, just soaking it all up without any clue about whether it will be helpful or detrimental to us in the future. At that age we don’t have the ability to filter or analyze anything (critical faculty) so we use what our parents pass on to us.
Unfortunately, quite often, that’s what we run with for the rest of our lives, never questioning why we believe certain things or do things a certain way.
I’m a firm believer that most parents do the best they can with what they have, however, parents are also the product of their own upbringing, and so on back down the line. In most families, there will be several instances of less than wonderful mindsets and less than empowering beliefs. In some families there will be an overwhelming lack of anything positive to be absorbed in those vital early years up to age seven.
One of my sons tells the story of asking me for some money to go to the shop with his friend, when he was about ten years old. He says I immediately went into the ‘money doesn’t grow on trees’ routine, exactly as my parents had programmed me to do. It’s only now, after much training and coaching, that I’ve been able to shift those old beliefs around money and it’s availability. When he told me this story, which I didn’t remember, I was astounded at how deeply that belief was ingrained into my unconscious mind as my default setting and at how I just trotted out all that negative mindset without so much as a thought.
Think about where you’re at in your life right now. Are you fulfilled and happy or are you depressed and exhausted from the struggle that is your everyday existence?
If it’s the second one, depressed and exhausted, it can be fixed, easily and effortlessly, that’s right…
To quote Anthony Robbins – ‘The past does not equal the future.’ Just because you have had a difficult and stressful life and felt depressed or anxious for most of your life to date, it absolutely does not mean that the rest of your life has to go the same way.
When you decide, right now, to have a different life, to change those limiting beliefs and negative mindsets, everything changes with that decision. It IS that simple. Decide to change, right now, and become the person you were meant to be – happy and empowered.
Let me help you on this amazing journey towards happiness and fulfillment.
