Do you often get a really strong feeling that something is wrong?
Do you often get a strong feeling that something is right?
How do you respond to those feelings?
Think of a time when you were aware of a very strong ‘gut’ feeling about a person
or situation and you decided to ignore this ‘gut’ feeling. What was the outcome?
I’m going to take a guess and say you didn’t get the best possible outcome from
ignoring what your intuition (gut feeling) was telling you.
Now think of another time when you had a strong ‘gut’ feeling about a person
or a situation and you chose to listen to that inner guidance. What was the outcome?
Again, let me take a guess – a great outcome for everyone concerned, even if it
wasn’t the one you had in mind or thought you wanted.
Nature and the universe are very kind to us and they give us this wonderful
gift of intuition, to help us make the right choices in our lives. As a general rule
of thumb, in my own life, the only time things haven’t worked out for me have
been the times I listened to other people and ignored my inner guidance system.
Quite a few years ago, I was offered a short work contract in Singapore. My initial
feeling was that I shouldn’t take it. Everyone around me got really excited and
started raving about what a great opportunity it was and how glamorous it all
sounded so, instead of going with my initial feeling (my intuition), I accepted
the job. When I got there, everything that could go wrong, did go wrong,
including a health scare that took me to hospital. It was a very good and obvious
reminder to me that we have our intuition for a very good reason – to use it for
our happiness and well being.
The thing about intuition is this – we all have it but intuition is a bit like a muscle,
if it’s not used, it becomes weak and withered and eventually can barely function.
On the other hand, if you listen to your inner guidance, just like a muscle, it gets
stronger and stronger and will not let you down.
Sometimes when you have a decision or a choice to make, you want something so
badly and desperately that you ignore the warnings coming from your intuition.
You try to force the situation, will it to be how you want it. If you think of a time
when that happened in your life and then examine the outcome you’re sure to see
that it wasn’t ideal, and maybe not even what you wanted after all.
There is a wise saying – “Be careful what you wish for, you might get it”. Bear this
in mind the next time you are at a crossroad in your life or have a decision to make.
And listen out for that little voice, that feeling inside. They will help you to make
the best decision and the right choice.
You are the only one who knows what’s right for you, deep down inside, your
intuition will tell you what you need to know – if you just let it.
