Are you waiting for your life to start? Are you waiting for the time to be right, the job to be right, the house to be right?
Do you realize you could spend the rest of your life waiting for these things?
THIS is your life, right now. This time and these circumstances are your life. If they’re not what you want, make the decision to change them, right now.
John Lennon said it perfectly. “Life is what happens while you’re busy making other plans.”
This life you are living right now, is your real life – it’s not a rehearsal. When you fully understand this, you know that now is the time to make this life what you want it to be. Don’t put your life on hold any longer, do something, take action, stop waiting for a different or better life to come along – it won’t!
I’ve just had this demonstrated to me yet again, very clearly, in the past few weeks. I work in a multi-practitioner clinic and about six weeks ago we all received an email about going on a local radio station for an interview. Most of the practitioners, including me, said they were interested. A few weeks went by and nothing was heard. I asked around and nobody knew anything.
I decided to make this happen for me because I really wanted to do it. I took matters into my own hands and contacted the radio station direct. A few weeks later, they offered me a fill in spot, at short notice, for someone who was away. I took the spot and now I’ve been offered a regular weekly guest spot. The other practitioners are still waiting for something to happen!
This proves exactly the point I’ve often made in this blog – take action, do something, take that first step. If you do nothing, nothing changes.
Taking action towards your goals is a huge part of being responsible for your life, your outcomes and your results. So understand clearly and completely, right now, this life and every life, is THE life, not a rehearsal for the life you dream about. Every life is crucial, every life is important and it’s up to you and only you, to make your particular life count.
Take a good look at this life of yours. What’s not working? What’s working? What’s good? What needs some tweaking? Assess your life honestly and without blame and then decide on the first thing you will do to get the life you want and deserve. While you are doing this, be mindful of the fact that it’s never about what’s happened to you and always about how you deal with the things that happen.
If you become aware that you’re apportioning blame as you’re going through this exercise, stop! Until you take full responsibility for the emotions and feelings that come up, there will be no progress. Acknowledge the feelings, good and bad. They’re your feelings, they’re valid and you’re allowed to feel what you feel. The thing that will turn your life around for you, is that point where you decide that you are not defined by the events in your life, you take positive lessons from the events in your life, accept responsibility for the feelings and let them go, leave them in the past where they belong. When you need help with this, Life Coaching is a great resource.
