It’s A Jungle Out There…
and you’re surrounded by wild animals and thick undergrowth, you feel stifled
and hemmed in, you can’t see ahead, can’t find your way.
It can feel just like this sometimes, as you fight your way through your life.
You need a machete to chop through to the light, you need a guide to show
you where to go.
When it all gets too much and you can’t see the wood for the trees, when you’re
completely overwhelmed by your problems and issues – what do you do?
These things can seem to help for awhile but they’re really only bandages
that cover up the cause. If the cause isn’t allowed to come to the surface and be
acknowledged, the wound will fester and ulcerate, eventually oozing out from
under the bandage and creating even greater problems.
I invite you to rip the bandage off – let the fresh air in so the healing can
begin.
There are many ways you can start the healing. A great way to commence is to
make time for yourself to do something that makes you happy, every day. It
could be reading a book, having an aromatic bath, going for a walk, yoga –
whatever is ‘your thing’. When you do this for yourself, you are allowing
yourself to receive nurturing and love, you are valuing yourself as a person.
This will build over time into feelings of self esteem and self worth and when you
have those, anything is possible.
A person with high self esteem, when faced with the jungle, will hack through
to the light with energy and confidence in her own ability. She will not cower
in the face of wild beasts because she knows she is the power in her own life, she
is the one in charge.
When the jungle seems to be impenetrable and self esteem is missing, then it’s
