That Thing You Do

Everyone has that little (or big) quirk or behaviour they wish they didn’t have.

You know the one I’m talking about…it’s a bit embarrassing or even downright sabotaging in your life. That thing, that if it was gone from your life, would make everything so much easier and better for you. You could be successful, you could pursue your dreams and live the great life you know you deserve, if that ‘thing’ was gone.

The truth is, we all have that thing, sometimes several things, that we wish we didn’t have, do or believe.

For some of you it may the fear of meeting new people or a fear of speaking in public. It could be a nervous laugh or nervous tic. Sometimes the ‘thing’ is more sinister than that. Perhaps an illness or a belief that no one is interested in meeting you or in listening to what you have to say, a belief that you are unworthy and undeserving.

These kinds of beliefs, the deeply seated ones that have been with you your whole life, are the ones that can bring you undone. That is, unless you decide to let them go and create new, positive and empowering beliefs.

When you decide to let them go, how exactly do you go about doing that? Is it as simple as just choosing to do so? Quite a few years ago now, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, one of those weird illnesses that lump together a set of symptoms that don’t fit any other category. For me, it meant I had excruciating pain in my legs, sharp pains, dull aches, throbbing, all moving randomly from place to place all over my legs. Sometimes I could barely walk, I could only stand for short periods of time and was generally,
quite debilitated. Obviously, this ‘thing’ was fairly serious and sinister and had a major impact on my life.

I didn’t know how to get rid of my ‘thing’ and thought I had it for the rest of my life.

However, after completing intensive training as a Life Coach and NLP practitioner and practicing the techniques and processes with my fellow students, I now find that I have been free of fibromyalgia for over two years.

What changed for me?

My thought processes, my limiting beliefs and my focus.

Whilst working on those things, this debilitating illness has just disappeared from my life. Amazing!

Now, I help others change their thought processes, limiting beliefs and focus too and get the same incredible results. I have come to understand that many diseases are the result of negative and limited thinking and when those unconscious, less than empowering mindsets are changed, more often than not, good health follows automatically.
